About

The world isn't facing just one problem, so why should we tackle only one issue? Here at The Giving Hand, we believe in doing everything within our means to serve all of the communities in need. As we continue to expand our programs and grow our strategies, we hope to eventually meet all of the world's demands. This organization has been alleviating food insecurity amongst the homeless, as well as providing housing, counseling, and mentoring to people of all ages, ethnicities, and races. We have come together not only for the American people, but for the human race.

With every hungry child, with every man or woman falling victim to abuse, with every homeless veteran and with every individual deprived of an education, we will continue the good work until we are able to eliminate all of the issues facing our vulnerable populations. We do more than just give at The Giving Hand, because we understand that people need more than just food or money to thrive; they need a new perspective on life, hope, and opportunity.

Mission Statement

The Giving Hand's mission is to help veterans, abused women with children, the homeless, underserved minorities and youths, low-income families and seniors succeed mentally, emotionally, physically and financially.

Heal by equipping those in our communities with the medical, educational, and financial resources necessary to develop their self-identity, to achieve economic stability, to gain a sense of personal accountability, academic excellence, community involvement, social equality, and balanced living.

We strive to restore those in need by providing housing opportunities, rehabilitation centers, job opportunities, scholarships, nutritional resources, educational counseling, and outreach programs for vulnerable communities.

Goal

The Giving Hand's goal is to cripple poverty by recuperating those who have fallen through societal cracks. In order to do this we try to show families and individuals that welfare is the last option, not the answer. We equip youth with the proper tools now, so that they do not fall into the pitfalls of homelessness and drug addiction tomorrow. By affording them with mentors and tools to maximize their educational capabilities, we can help these vulnerable populations achieve their goals.

Our program helps homeless mothers and fathers with children obtain jobs, so that their children avoid the impoverished cycle that afflicts many single parent households today. In ensuring their financial stability, we are stabilizing the mentalities of the future leaders of this world.

This organization is committed, not only to the young, but also to the elderly in our communities. Most importantly, we will serve the veterans who have risked their lives for our freedom, through housing placement, and a variety of mental and emotional health resources.

When your truck pulled into my driveway we thought you were at the wrong house, but once I realized the food was for us, I cried. I cried because for the first time in three years my house would be filled with food. Thank you for everything.

I was introduced to Ms. Ebow through a housing coordinator at school; and once she found out that I was a veteran living in a hostel with 12 other men, she went to work. She housed not only me, but three of my friends from the army and for that we will forever be grateful.

I have been volunteering with this organization for the last two years and its always a wonderfully, humbling experience. I look forward to volunteering there again; and on behalf of all the volunteers- thank you for what you are doing!
